How do I recognize a SPRENGER stainless steel chain collar?
All our stainless steel chain collars always have a metal tag with a red dot. In addition, stainless steel swivels and rings on the chains are always marked with the HS-GERMANY INOX stamp. These markings allow you to distinguish our products from imitation products or SPRENGER chains made of stainless steel from silver chains made of other materials - because not every silver chain is always stainless steel!
What wire gauges are available for stainless steel chain collars?
Choosing the right wire gauge is crucial for the safety of a chain collar and should be selected to suit your dog's weight and temperament.
We offer our SPRENGER stainless steel chains with 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm wire gauge.
Caution: All links should always be checked regularly for damage or wear. If this occurs, the chain should be replaced immediately and no longer used. For particularly lively dogs, we recommend choosing a wire gauge greater than that recommended by the weight specification.

Stainless steel black chain collar for dogs
Our high-quality chain collars made of rust-free, blackened stainless steel can do everything: they are real eye-catchers or inconspicuous, elegant companions for dogs with dark fur! An electroplating process gives them their dark surface, which is then polished. These dog collars are based on our standard stainless steel range and offer the same safety and high breaking strength.
Due to the permanent friction of the fur against the metal and metal against metal, for example on the pull-through chain, an attractive antique look can develop over time. Due to this abrasion, we do not recommend black stainless steel collars for dogs with light-colored or white fur, as this can be discolored by the chain.
When buying a black stainless steel chain collar, you should make sure that it is an original SPRENGER product in order to benefit from our quality and safety standards. The same identification characteristics apply here as for our stainless steel chains.

Which collar for sensitive dogs?
For dogs that react to other metals with coat discoloration or allergic reactions, CUROGAN chains are a great alternative. The reason: most dogs are allergic to the nickel in metal collars - our CUROGAN chain collars are 100% nickel-free.

We currently offer our SPRENGER chains made of CUROGAN in two wire thicknesses: 3 mm and 4 mm.
Please note: As CUROGAN is a slightly softer material than stainless steel, a thicker wire should be used if possible than for comparable stainless steel chains. For this reason, it is also particularly important with CUROGAN chains to regularly check the chain links for abrasion in the links.

Our chrome-plated collars from SPRENGER are characterized by their high-gloss finish, which is achieved through a special surface polishing. This polishing also ensures that the nickel layer and chrome layer adhere particularly well to the surface, which is important for the durability of the chain. The double coating gives the chain collars double protection against rust, which lasts for a long time.
Please note: If the surface is damaged by external influences, the steel core of the chain collar may rust due to the lack of coating in this area. For this reason, we cannot provide any guarantee against corrosion for chain collars and other steel items. It is therefore advisable to take a certain amount of care when handling the necklaces in order to preserve their lifespan.
How do I care for chrome-plated chain collars properly?
To take optimum care of chrome-plated chain collars, we recommend cleaning them with a mild detergent or washing-up liquid if they become dirty and then drying them thoroughly. Chrome-plated steel products should not be cleaned with metal polish, as this can remove the surface coating.
