What are the distinguishing features of Sprenger Bootsport products?
All Sprenger products bear the HS-Germany stamp, the manufacturer’s official logo. This mark serves as a distinguishing feature and stands for ‘Made in Germany’ quality .
Why should I choose Sprenger fittings?
Sprenger offers the best value for money on the market. In tests carried out by the renowned magazines YACHT and SEGELN, Sprenger blocks consistently achieved top marks or were named test winners. The tests assessed working and breaking loads, the accuracy of the catalogue specifications against actual values, and corrosion resistance.
An impressive example of their quality: the well-known sailor Wilfried Erdmann circumnavigated the globe in around 330 days in 1984. Some 20 years later, he repeated his solo circumnavigation of the globe, this time even sailing against the prevailing wind directions – and used largely the same Sprenger blocks as on his first voyage. It is hard to imagine a better testament to durability and reliability.
Sprenger fittings are also held in the highest regard by cruising and regatta sailors – their quality and durability make them a popular choice for professionals and recreational sailors alike.
Can Sprenger blocks be used in salt water?
Yes, Sprenger blocks are generally designed and suitable for use in salt water.
However, slight rusting may occur in isolated cases, particularly around the rivets and in the vicinity of the riveted areas. Whilst this cannot be completely prevented from a technical point of view, it does not affect the quality or function of the block.
These are minimal, superficial residues or deposits left by machining tools. This slight ‘rust’ affects only the surface and can be easily removed.
