Double Jointed Bits

Single-jointed bits exert more targeted pressure on the edge of the tongue and less on the centre of the tongue. In contrast, double-jointed bits distribute the pressure over a larger area, so that both the edge and the centre of the tongue are affected.

SPRENGER bits with a special design have a small arrow on one side of the mouthpiece. This must point forwards on the left-hand side; the bit is then correctly fitted.
